A-SUN AMISSA SIGN TO GIZEH // NEW ALBUM MARCH 26th

We are delighted to announce our first new release of 2012 in the shape of A-Sun Amissa with their debut full-length 'Desperate in Her Heavy Sleep'.

It will be released on CD (6 panel digipak) and Download on March 26th.

Pre-orders are now available on the Gizeh Store. All orders from the store will receive an exclusive 6 page booklet of additional photographs not used on the final artwork printed on heavyweight recycled card (limited to 150) and an instant download of the first track from the record 'Arm in Arm to a Full Awakening'. You can hear that track as a stream below. All pre-orders will also receive the album in full as a download on March 26th.

A-Sun Amissa is a new project formed out of Leeds, UK by members of Glissando. Built on the foundations of the unknown, a project that encompasses minimalist drones, modern-classical movements and avant-garde tendencies.

Richard Knox (Glissando / 'The Rustle of the Stars' / Of Thread & Mist) & Angela Chan (Glissando / 'The Rustle of the Stars' / Ten / Tomorrow We Sail) began forming initial ideas in the Autumn of 2011, moving away from the piano-led ambience of previous outputs. Long-time friend Owen Pegg was soon invited to join the project as the pieces developed to enable the songs the depth and intensity they require.

The trio produce a dense, drone-like atmosphere accompanying evocative, melodic string sections and intertwining guitars. The live show features sections of the recorded output combined with improvisation to unlock new movements and progressions in the music. The subtle, considered textures and the hypnotic interaction between players and instruments provide an intense live performance.

October 2011 saw the first recorded output in the form of a 3" CD release as part of Hibernate Recordings' acclaimed 'postcard' series. The release 'Beneath the Heavy Tides' featured two tracks and serves as a prelude to the new record 'Desperate in Her Heavy Sleep'.

As the year draws to a close we look back at what we feel has been our best year yet. Of course that wouldn't be the case were it not for you fine folks investing in what we are trying to achieve and supporting us by continuing to buy the records we release.

The Winter is drawing in and we see this as the perfect opportunity to launch our Winter Sale. This will run for the whole of December with some pretty crazy discounts on most of our releases - some being as little as £1.

To coincide with the sale we have also launched our annual free Winter Sampler. You can stream the whole thing from our soundcloud page or download it from the Gizeh Store. There is also the option of making a donation for the sampler if you feel it's worth it.

We are proud to announce that two of our releases for 2011 have featured in Textura's top 20 albums of the year. FareWell Poetry's 'Hoping for the Invisible to Ignite' lands at #4 and Sleepingdog's 'With Our Heads in the Clouds and Our Hearts in the Fields' is at #19.

And finally - a beautiful video by our dear friend David Bart for the track 'Sleeping Land (part I)' - taken from 'The Rustle of the Stars'.

THE 'SILENT BELLS' TOUR IS OVER!
Well, what a week that was. A million thanks to everyone involved. We did it!

As we work our way towards the end of the year we are currently thinking about plans for 2012 and we hope to be able to announce some of those plans in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
